ABOUT THE COFFEE
This Honduras Microlot comes from a single producer, Rony Hernandez, in San Marcos de Caiquin. This community is on the southeast outskirts of the Celaque National Park and has the Pacaya Volcano Biological Reserve, a complex of active volcanoes, to the southwest. Coffee production in this region isn’t just a source of income but of great pride, tied to many traditions. Specialty coffee has been a focus for some time, and producers mostly gather into groups and co-ops, to improve their financial access. Don Rony picks only ripe, red cherry and delivers it to the wet mill
the same day. This lot was selected from the best of his harvests.

ABOUT THE REGION
In the center of Central America, Honduras is bordered by Guatemala to the west, El Salvador to the south and Nicaragua to the east. The Caribbean Sea forms its northern border, while the Pacific Ocean meets a slip of its southern tip. The Department of Lempira, in the Western Region, is known for growing cherry that’s dark-red in appearance and for producing coffees with sweet flavors and bright acidity. The area is mountainous, with elevations up to 1,800 meters ASL; valleys are hot, temperatures cool as one ascends, and cold breezes flow down from the Celaque National Park.
