Description
SUMATRA ACEH MANDHELING
This Grade 1 Mandheling coffee comes from the Aceh region in Sumatra. The lot was produced by small holders and the cherries were double-picked, to remove any physical defects. The additional quality control practice ensures that only ripe red cherries are used. The coffee was then processed using the semi-washed method (locally called “Giling Basah”).
North Sumatra’s lakes, pine trees, and rolling hills make it hard to believe that you’re only hours away from white sand beaches and tropical rainforests. Coffee first came to Indonesia in the late 1600’s, when it was planted in Java, and cultivation in Sumatra followed in the 1800’s. Since then, Sumatra has become one of the world’s most fabled and unique coffee regions.
